Accessible Backyard Guest House

Designed with love and long-term care in mind, this ADA-compliant detached guest house in Fort Collins was built to support a family member with mobility challenges. Nestled behind the main home, the 1,138-s.f. structure mirrors the architecture of the primary residence for a cohesive look, while offering complete privacy and accessibility.
The home features a zero-threshold entry, wide walkways, an open kitchen and living room, and a fully accessible bedroom and bathroom suite. A ceiling-mounted body lift system connects the bedroom, laundry, and bath for ease of movement. Additional highlights include a wheelchair-friendly kitchen island, curbless shower, built-in cabinetry, and a flexible home office with a murphy bed. Every element of this guest house was thoughtfully designed to promote comfort, dignity, and independence.
