The kitchen is called the “heart of the home” for good reason. More than just a place to prepare food, it’s where we gather with friends and family. Our kitchen can set the tone of each day as the coffee brews. It’s where homework is tackled, recipes tested, and plans discussed. Memories are made in the kitchen, often over a shared story or meal. More than just a room, the kitchen reflects the beating pulse of our lives.
So how is the heart of your home feeling lately?
At HighCraft, we believe everyone deserves a kitchen they love. We can’t tell you how many times—after completing a kitchen remodel—that our clients said through happy tears, “Why didn’t we do this sooner?!”
If you’re thinking about your own kitchen remodel, here are ten renovations from Fort Collins, Loveland, Timnath, Horsetooth Reservoir and Red Feather Lakes for design inspiration.
1. Modern Mountain

These homeowners wanted to modernize their mountain kitchen to include a large island with seating, and to improve overall functionality.
(Before) The unused antique stove took up valuable space. And without proper seating, the cook often felt stranded in the kitchen during get togethers. (After) By removing the antique stove and another wall, we reclaimed space for the new wet bar and central island, creating a welcoming kitchen where guests want to linger.

2. Double Island

With a beverage station, double ovens, double islands, and an open-concept layout, this Fort Collins kitchen remodel is perfect for entertaining.

The perimeter cabinets and the base cabinetry for the range-top island are a crisp satin-white finish. The second island provides more storage and seating, and is painted a rich indigo for contrast. See the full project in “Kitchen Remodel and Bathroom Addition.”
3. Light and Bright

Adding more windows and higher ceilings is a wonderful way to make a dark and dreary kitchen more inviting.
(Before) The small kitchen had amazing views of Horsetooth Reservoir, but its low ceiling and wood-heavy design made it feel like a cave. (After) The slightly expanded footprint, new windows, vaulted ceiling and modernized kitchen create a definite “wow” factor. View the complete remodel in “Modern Melamine Kitchen.”
4. French Country Retreat

These Timnath empty nesters were ready for a change, including a larger kitchen for social gatherings, with a design inspired by French country décor.
(Before) The original kitchen was too dark and the layout too awkward for our clients. It also didn’t reflect their style. (After) We removed walls to extend the kitchen, and added French country touches, such as a custom built-in cabinet with bun feet to resemble a standalone hutch. The new center island is where everyone gathers during parties. Check out more before-and-after photos in “French Country Inspired Remodel.”
5. Scandinavian Simplicity

Our clients craved the less-is-more elegance of Scandinavian design in their Fort Collins kitchen.
(Before) The walls dividing the kitchen, dining and living areas created cramped spaces that discouraged gathering. (After) The new minimalist layout is light, open and inviting. Explore the full project gallery in “Scandinavian Inspired Kitchen and Bath Remodel.”
6. Outdoor Kitchen

At the top of our clients’ wish list was more space to entertain, including an open-air kitchen with a grilling station, and an outdoor lounge with a fire feature.

The outdoor kitchen area features dining and island seating, a sink and ice maker, glass-front beverage refrigerators, and a fully vented and weather-protected grilling station anchored in custom cabinetry. Explore the full Loveland remodel in “Grand Waterfront Retreat.”
7. Asian Inspired

These Fort Collins homeowners wanted a clutter-free kitchen that reflected their love of Japanese art and culture, with a focus on clean lines, minimalism and balance.
(Before) The kitchen was a throwback to the 1990s, which conflicted with our clients’ Asian aesthetic. (After) We replaced the slate tiles with wide-plank European white oak flooring, and the new flat-panel cabinetry was stained a deep Licorice. A full waterfall edge is perfect for the island countertop, and we repurposed the formal dining room as an open art gallery to display the homeowners’ collection of Japanese sculpture. 8. Fresh Shabby Chic

Using a warm white palette, this kitchen update was exactly what our Old Town Fort Collins clients were after.
(Before) The kitchen lacked counterspace and storage, the room was dim, and it didn’t reflect our clients’ personal taste. Because their home was built in 1898, they wanted an updated kitchen that felt lived in, with splashes of vintage elements throughout. (After) The newly remodeled kitchen checks all the boxes for the happy homeowners, who asked for a fresh take on a shabby chic design. See more before-and-after photos.
9. Coastal Farmhouse

Who wouldn’t want to pull up a chair at this welcoming island in such a sunny kitchen?
(Before) This Fort Collins kitchen was dark and closed off from the rest of the home. (After) Opening up the house, and creating an unobstructed view from the front door through the kitchen, created the light and airy “coastal farmhouse” feel the homeowners were after. To maximize windows, we tucked the refrigerator and additional upper storage cabinets into a new butler’s pantry. Explore the full gallery in “1960s Ranch Remodel.”
10. Wall Be Gone

This Fort Collins kitchen came to life after removing a wall and peninsula to improve traffic flow, and replacing dated tile and white cabinetry to create a modern look.
(Before) A wall isolated the person making dinner from the rest of the family, and made the kitchen feel dark and cramped. (After) Removing the wall was key to helping the kitchen feel light, bright and welcoming. Check out more before-and-after photos of this remodel.
