Prep Your Home for Fall

Summer is coming to an end,so before the cold weather sets in take some time to do those much needed projects around your home. Here are a few quick tips to help you prepare for the changing seasons.
  • Clean debris from gutters and downspouts to protect your home from water damage
  • Check heating system including filters, pilot lights, and burners, and have the system serviced by a qualified professional
  • Clean and vacuum dust from vents, baseboard heaters and cold-air returns
  • Inspect windows and doors for any signs of deterioration and make necessary repairs
  • Cover air-conditioning units with plastic to protect them over the winter
  • Install Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors
  • Winterize your pipes
  • Pest-proof your house. Take the time to thoroughly check the outside of your house for any areas that provide entry for mice, raccoons and the like
  • Paint interior rooms while it's still warm enough to leave windows open. Ditto for shampooing or replacing carpets.
